Description

This Standard sets out the essential safety requirements for all gas appliances in New Zealand that are produced in volume. The objective is to provide manufacturers, designers, regulatory authorities, testing laboratories, and similar organisations with a set of safety and performance outcome-oriented criteria which may be used as the basis for certification or endorsement of gas appliances for sale in New Zealand.

For small production gas appliances, specialised gas appliances, and appliances for which a recognised certification scheme does not exist, use NZS 5266. Although the two Standards may differ slightly in wording, the technical requirements for safety are essentially the same.
