Description

This determination arises from the decision of the authority to refuse to issue a code compliance certificate for a 5-year-old house because it was not satisfied that it complied with Clauses B1, B2 and E2 of the Building Code.

The matters for determination are:

  1. Whether the cladding as installed on the house complies with Building Code Clause B2 Durability and Clause E2 External Moisture;
  2. Whether the cantilevered deck complies with Building Code Clause B1 Structure, taking into account the possibility of decay to the deck's framing as a result of moisture ingress through the deck-cladding junction.
