Description
This Standard sets out performance requirements, design requirements, means of compliance, and specifications for testing aerated wastewater treatment systems (AWTS) and associated fittings. Also provides guidance on installation, operation, and maintenance requirements.
Scope
Aerated wastewater treatment systems covered by this Standard treat wastewater by aeration, typically followed by clarification. Systems may include extended aeration activated sludge units, biofilters, and rotating biological contactors, and alternative treatment technologies which meet the performance requirements of this Standard.
The principles of this Standard may be applied to alternative treatment technologies, where approved by the regulatory authority.
